BackerKit Surveys Are Live & Preorder Store Open

Hi everyone,
We have a big update today as Roadside Encounters moves into the next phase.
BackerKit surveys are now live and on their way to your email! You’ll use your survey to confirm your shipping address, select your rewards, and choose any optional add-ons you’d like to include with your pledge.
BackerKit Surveys Are Live
You should now be able to complete your BackerKit survey for Roadside Encounters. In your survey, you’ll be able to:
- Confirm your shipping address
- Select your Roadside Encounters deck choices
- Choose any optional add-ons
If you do not see the survey email yet, check the inbox connected to your Kickstarter account, along with your spam, promotions, or updates folders. You can also use the survey recovery page here:
Add-Ons
In the add-on section of your BackerKit survey, you’ll find some extra Dice Dungeons products that pair well with Roadside Encounters. Since Roadside Encounters was created as a spiritual successor to Quest Decks, this felt like the right time to make our full line of Quest Decks available as optional add-ons, and at a special discount. Quest Decks are decks filled with quick, system-agnostic adventure hooks that can be dropped into an ongoing campaign, in our games we pull 3-4 of them before the adventurers enter a settlement and have a batch of side-quest nailed to the tavern wall.
We’ve also included two of our 5e books as optional add-ons: Mutated Monsters, our bestiary filled unique alterations of classic creatures, and 80’s Adventures, a retro-inspired 5e supplement packed with neon-soaked character classes, monsters, magic items, spells, and more, all inspired by 1980s movies, music, and pop culture.
Preorder Store Is Open
The Roadside Encounters preorder store is also open! That means anyone who missed the campaign can still jump in and preorder through BackerKit. If you know someone who would enjoy quick travel encounters, strange roadside discoveries, haunted paths, dangerous trails, or useful Game Master tools, this is a great way for them to join the project after the Kickstarter.
What Happens Next?
For now, the main thing backers need to do is complete their surveys when they have a chance.
We’ll keep surveys open while we continue moving through the next steps of production and fulfillment planning. We’ll also send reminders before surveys lock, so you’ll have notice before final details are closed.
If you need to update your address, adjust your deck selections, or add anything else, your BackerKit survey is the place to do that.

The Road Ahead! Timeline & Next Steps

THANK YOU! Roadside Encounters has officially wrapped, and this campaign grew far beyond where it started because of your support, comments, and all the excitement you brought to it.
What began as three travel encounter decks became a much larger line of tools for TTRPG travel with 9 decks unlocked!! And we’re incredibly grateful to every backer who helped make that happen!
What You Helped Unlock
Over the course of the campaign, you helped expand Roadside Encounters into a much bigger project than we originally launched with.
With your support we unlocked all these decks:
- The Main Road
- The Haunted Road
- The Wild Road
- The Dangerous Road
- The High Road
- The Festival Road
- The Lost Road
- The Open Sea
- The Silk Road
Plus extra content for all backers:
- Bonus Cards for Every Deck
- Weather Effects PDF
That means the Roadside Encounters line now includes 9 deck options, and every unlocked deck now includes 45 cards instead of 40.
Unlocking The Silk Road in the final hours of the campaign was an especially exciting way to close things out. That deck brings merchants and trade, wealthy travelers, and all the opportunity and trouble that follow them onto the road.
Timeline and Next Steps
Now that the campaign has officially closed, here’s what comes next.
Surveys
In about two weeks, Kickstarter will finalize the campaign and release funds to us. Once that happens, we’ll send out a BackerKit survey to the email tied to your Kickstarter account. That survey is where you’ll select your rewards, confirm your shipping information, and add anything extra you’d like.
This is when you’ll choose which unlocked decks you want based on your pledge level.
Upgrades and Add-Ons
While surveys are open, you’ll be able to upgrade your pledge or add additional items if you want more decks, digital versions, or other available add-ons. We also plan to have our full line of Quest Decks, as well as our Books, available in the add-on store at a special price.
You’ll be able to update your shipping address through BackerKit until fulfillment begins.
Digital Early Access
Once layout is complete, and all backer surveys are locked, we plan to send out early-access digital copies before print so we can process feedback ahead of final production.
Production and Fulfillment
From here, we move into writing, editing, layout, proofing, and print production. We’ll continue to share updates as the project moves through each stage.
Final digital files will go out around the time physical fulfillment begins.
Missed the Campaign?
When surveys go out, we also plan to open the pre-order store. Anyone who missed the campaign will still be able to join in, though pre-order copies will ship after backer rewards are fulfilled. Before that happens, we also have late pledges open so if you know anyone that missed the campaing and still wants in they can still pledge on kickstarter now.

3 Days to Go, and Weather Effects Are In

Hi everyone,
We’re down to just 3 days left in the campaign, and I wanted to share another quick update as we head into the final stretch.
Over the weekend, we unlocked our Weather Effects PDF, and I’m excited to add it to the growing lineup of rewards already built into Roadside Encounters.
Weather Effects Unlocked
This reward is planned as a roll-based weather system designed to support travel across different kinds of environments.
You’ll select the biome your party is traveling through, then roll to determine weather that fits that region. Rather than using one generic table for every journey, this will let you generate weather that feels more appropriate to the terrain and adds another useful layer to overland travel. Some results will also come with built-in benefits or challenges, like heavy fog giving the party better opportunities for stealth, or extreme heat increasing the need for water and resource management.
We think this is going to be a really useful companion piece for the decks, and we’re excited to add it to the project!!
Next Up: The Silk Road
Our next stretch goal is The Silk Road, which will become our 9th deck option if unlocked.
This deck is built around merchant-focused travel. Maybe the party comes across merchants in need of hired guards. Maybe a traveling bazaar has set up shop at a crossroads. Trade disputes, rare goods, or wealthy nobles can pull the adventurers into something bigger than they expected.
There is a lot of fun space in this one, and we’d love to bring it into the lineup before the campaign ends. (Let us know what you'd like to see in this deck in the comments!)
The Final Push

Hi everyone!
We’ve officially reached the halfway point of the campaign! I wanted continue to thank you all again for the support you’ve shown Roadside Encounters so far. It so exciting to watch a project grow, and we’re thrilled to see all the people helping to keep the momentum going.
Over the weekend, we crossed another major milestone and unlocked a brand new deck!
The Open Sea Is Unlocked
Our newest unlocked deck is The Open Sea. This deck takes the same core idea behind Roadside Encounters and brings it onto the water, making it a great fit for both sea voyages and river travel. Expect merchants, strange ships, hazards on the water, and creatures from the deep, along with all the adventure and opportunity that can come from travel far from shore.
Where the Lineup Stands Now
With The Open Sea unlocked, the Roadside Encounters line has continued to grow well beyond where it started. We now have a 8 deck options in total! Covering everything from settled roads and haunted paths to festivals, lost trails, and now travel by water.
We also previously unlocked Bonus Cards, which means every deck in the lineup now includes 45 cards instead of 40. That added value applies across the full line and makes each deck even more useful at the table.
New Stretch Goals Added
Now that The Open Sea has joined the campaign, I’ve added two new stretch goals to keep the road ahead looking exciting.
$45,000. Weather Effects PDF
This digital bonus will come in a PDF format to all backers. And will include weather effects (broken down by biome) for travel. Adding storms, fog, heat, cold, and other conditions to that will make adventures even more dynamic.
$55,000. The Silk Road
Merchant caravans, exotic goods, hired guards, trade disputes, and wealthy travelers bring profit, intrigue, and opportunity to the journey.
I’m especially excited about both of these because they open up very different kinds of travel play. One adds another useful tool for every backer, while the other pushes the deck line into a new style of travel encounter with a strong merchant and trade focus.
Now that The Open Sea is part of the campaign, we’d love to hear from you.
What would you most want your party to run into on the water? A suspicious merchant vessel? A drifting wreck? Smugglers? Something BIG moving below the surface? Tell us in the comments. We always enjoy seeing what kinds of encounters people are already imagining for the decks.

We’ve officially hit the one week mark on Roadside Encounters! In the first 7 days we've done so much! With over 500 backers, we’ve unlocked a total of 7 deck options, and added bonus cards across the line.
It’s been exciting to watch this project grow over these first week and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has backed, commented, shared the campaign.
The Open Sea Is Coming Into View
We’re now quickly chipping away at our next major stretch goal: The Open Sea. We’re getting close, and I’m excited to see this one coming into range.
